QUALITY STANDARDS

Our quality process and philosophy is based on the ISO9000 process, team work and Six Sigma.  We are currently reviewing the BQ9000 system which has been designed specifically for the biodiesel industry in the USA.  When our review is completed we will seek accreditation.  Our current process is structured and designed to ensure our end-product meets the relevant standards required by the Energy Grants (Cleaner Fuels) Scheme.  Our blends with mineral diesel are formulated to meet the Australian Diesel Standard, also a requirement for the mainstream fuel producers (eg Shell, Mobile, BP and Caltex).

Smorgon Fuels has invested in the training of our technical and production staff to conduct these tests in house, and has invested in the necessary equipment required in the production and laboratory processes to ensure we meet these standards.  Daily audits are conducted by our management system to ensure we conform at each step throughout our production process.  We also conduct independent testing with accredited laboratories to confirm our test results at pre‑determined frequencies.  We utilize the independent laboratories to measure and confirm any new process changes when continuous improvement and research and development activities are taking place.

Our laboratory equipment is calibrated and serviced at the recommended interval to ensure repeatability and conformance, as is our measurement equipment used in the production process, including gauges and density meters.

We have adopted the philosophy of Six Sigma where we focus on the importance of team problem solving and statistical measurement.  This ensures that the particular characteristics we are measuring are well within the standards, minimizing the chances of any product which is substandard leaving our plant.  Our traceability system records inputs and process measures throughout the production process and samples are retained for up to 12 months.  Quality Certificates, based on batch numbers, will be available to customers via our website.  Thus, our customers are protected and guaranteed a quality product. 

In the event of a customer complaint, we have quality processes in place to immediately respond.  In most cases we will dispatch a representative to the site to identify the nature of the problem and provide a solution.  We would also review the batch sample data (which are retained at our site) and take the appropriate action to determine the root cause and then review our quality and production processes to eliminate the problem from recurring. 

We have in place Public & Product Liability insurance, in the event that fuel we have supplied should become a claim by the customer.  On request we will provide a Certificate of Currency.
